PAULYLAB

THE COMPLEMENT SYSTEM IN VISION RESEARCH

WELCOME TO THE PAULY LABORATORY AT THE PHILIPPS-UNIVERSITY MARBURG

As a research group we are interested in the role of the complement system in ocular diseases.

The complement system is part of the innate immune response and plays a pivotal role in the development and progression of many ocular diseases. We thrive to investigate its involvement in the homeostasis of epithelial cells in age related macular degeneration (AMD) and to determine its part in subclinical retinal degeneration in neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder. Focusing on the Factor H related protein family, we also work on investigating the functions of these proteins and developing a biosensor for bedside application to detect diseases that are associated with the Factor H protein family.

We are part of the Philipps-University of Marburg and are located at the UKGM Marburg.
